[ The pixel phenomena ] - The popularization of smart-phone has been gradually changing our way of perceiving a city and connection with people. This little device, using pixel image as its media, privatizes public space for its user and creates invisible barrier. Our action and re-action with the environment became fragmentized. Our urban experience is getting decontextualized. [ Finding the colour of Woods of Fontelo ] - Pixelized Landscape is an act of reflection to the above phenomena. By using the pixelized image of the Fontelo Park as the media, it aims to physicalize the above social phenomena into an actual space-time experience yet providing visitors with a stronger connection with the Park. Pixelized Landscape will be an 2mx2mx2m seemingly floating habitable cubic installation that privatized space situating at a crossing of public flow in Fontelo Park. Inspired by Portuguese Azulejo, the skin of the cubic installation will be made of small 4cmx4cm pieces of cable-connected ceramic titles with variation of color calibrating with perspective view from different point of location within the park. It will contextualize itself with the park in camouflage and create private forest bathing space for the visitors, allowing them to connect one’s body and mind with the natural environment.
