A Trio of Jewellery Boxes to Pass on the Tradition
Time Trilogy began by looking back at the long history of jewellery boxes in traditional Chinese culture, which revealed that: 1. it was part of dowry to be passed on from generation to generation as a sense of CONTINUITY; 2. the design of the boxes has continuously evolved with the LIFESTYLE of people; 3. the boxes were objects of ART themselves telling stories and history. The team took these small interesting findings as inspiration to develop three modern interpretations of the jewellery box that resonate with Chinese culture.
Inspired by traditional materials used in jewelry and furniture, the Cabinet of Memories translates traditional aesthetics into modern language to house keepsakes and jewellery. The Landscape of Lifestyle boasts a full-sized landscape designed with storage function for daily use. The Matrix of Inheritance piece comprises of modular interchangeable boxes within a transparent framework – featuring time capsules and jewellery compartments for storing treasures for your future self or to pass on for the next generations.
